Fossil Rock offers a great all-round desert experience, and can be tackled by any level of driver (with more challenging dunes off the main track). After lunch at the rock, head through Dhaid to the drive through Wadi Asimah, which provides completely different scenery and driving – mountains, farms, plantations and villages where life hasn’t changed in decades.
