Editorial Strategy
While the imagery is the star in this coffee table book, the editorial is an important supporting character, serving to enhance the overall impact of the book. Explorer's editors conducted meticulous research to ensure the brief captions adequately captured the experience of Hajj, giving readers an inside view of the locations at the heart of this spiritual journey.
Creative Approach
After reviewing the imagery available for this project, it was clear that the photography would take centre stage in the coffee table book's design. Explorer's creative team developed a concept that utilised large, full-bleed images of the holy sites coupled with smaller, more detailed shots of the pilgrimage experience. Our creative director used negative space strategically to amplify the impact of the imagery and create room for poetic captions that capture the spirit of Hajj.
