Dubai 3D Bus Station Maps
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) partnered with Explorer to produce a series of detailed 3D bus station maps for key locations across Dubai. These maps aim to enhance the commuting experience by providing clear, accessible information for travellers. Installed at bus stations citywide, each map integrates a comprehensive overview of the station layout, nearby landmarks, and detailed bus routes. This initiative reflects RTA’s commitment to improving public transport services and user convenience.

Creative Approach
Explorer’s design team created user-focused maps that combine functionality and clarity. Key features include a detailed 3D render of the station layout, a local area finder map highlighting landmarks, and a legend detailing bus numbers, routes, and bays for efficient navigation. The design uses clean typography, balanced colours, and precise rendering to ensure ease of use while reflecting RTA’s professional and modern brand identity.
Mapping Approach
The map creation process was collaborative and meticulous. Explorer’s cartography experts conducted site assessments to capture the unique features of each bus station and its surroundings. Using their extensive map database, the team either enhanced existing base maps or created new ones based on site observations. A foundational 2D station illustration was then transformed into a polished 3D render by in-house specialists, ensuring striking accuracy. Finally, designers integrated the 3D render, finder map, and legend into a cohesive, user-friendly layout. The process prioritised precision and alignment with RTA’s specifications, resulting in a product that improves the accessibility and efficiency of Dubai’s public transport network.
