Transport

Steglitz feels more like an urban village than a suburb in the sense that getting around the district itself without a car—whether by foot or cycling—poses no trouble at all. It is, however, advisable to own a car here, as public transport can run infrequently at night. That said, many Steglitz residents praise the short U and S bahn travel times to central Berlin as well as outlying areas such as Potsdam, and Steglitz benefits from being served by the U9 as well as the S1.
