Yoga & Pilates

If pumping iron or running a marathon isn’t for you, the ancient art of yoga or the ever popular Pilates are gentle yet effective alternatives to help you get and stay in shape.

PILATES
Pilates is said to be the safest form of neuromuscular reconditioning and back strengthening available and is often delivered by trained physiotherapists. The method can help you become stronger, fitter, more toned and more flexible. Classes are offered by a number of gyms as part of their group exercise schedules, and there are a number of studios that offer it too. There's a growing choice of pilates classes ion the city, from mat to reformer, xtend barre to pre natal pilates.

YOGA
Yoga is a low-impact (but deceptively challenging) form of holistic exercise which has been practised for thousands of years. It involves sequences of poses or ‘asanas’ that, combined with breathing exercises, gently but powerfully help your body become stronger and more flexible while relieving stress. Many gyms offer yoga classes, and there's a growing number of dedicated yoga schools around the city including Zen Yoga, the Yoga Room, Rawr Yoga and Club Stretch.
