These expansive villas offer gardens and come with pools, sports facilities and community activities. Many are close to supermarkets, cafes and clinics. Rents are more expensive than in Minhang or Qingpu, but families receive a lot more floor space for their money than in central areas. Expect villa rents to start from ¥32,000 a month. Popular complex Shanghai American Homes on Qingxi Lu (6291 1052) offers apartments from ¥20,000, and, a bit further out, you can even live on a golf course at Sheshan Golf Estate.
