Breakdowns
In the event of a breakdown, stay relaxed. If you’re in a high-traffic area, try to move your car out of the way. Depending on how dire the situation is, call the police (110), a friend to pick you up, or a mechanic. You can always collect your car at a later time as long as it’s not blocking traffic. Emergency phones are placed on the highway every couple of kilometres or so. Whenever you’re travelling, whether it’s around the city or to a remote location, it’s a good idea to always have your charged mobile phone with you and a dependable map. Car leasing companies usually offer 24 hour recovery services, but if you’re far from the city, there is no established towing or recovery service for you to call, so you will have to rely on your phone, your wits and the kindness of local strangers.
