Activities For Kids

Abu Dhabi is a veritable playground for every child, from tots to teens, with a huge range of different activities on offer. The city is also a remarkably safe place, aside from some of the obvious things such as traffic. If you find yourself living in one of the quieter villa compounds or one of the newer, purpose-built apartment complexes, there's often a lot of safe outside space, that many expat parents don't mind letting their kids run around in with their friends unsupervised. Families can enjoy a lovely outdoor lifestyle for most of the year, and even during the sweltering summer months, there are still plenty of ways to have fun and keep cool.

October to May
The cooler months make for a wonderful, outdoorsy lifestyle; you can picnic in the park, splash about at a waterpark, spend a day at the beach or even learn how to sail. For a full day out in the sun, check out Abu Dhabi Corniche. Families can soak up some sun on the sand, ride their bikes along the coast line or get together with friends for an alfresco lunch.

June to September
As the weather heats up, you can visit one of the many indoor play and edutainment centres dotted around the city; try Sparky's or Wanasa Land. Keep an eye on the local press too as, most months, there’s something going on for families whether that's ice shows, exhibitions or one-off entertainment. Many malls have specific kiddie entertainment like face painting or some kind of craft activity in the early evenings at weekends too.
