Education

Berlin does a poor job of integrating and educating children from non-German-speaking backgrounds, a problem that is nowhere more apparent than in Neukölln. Families with children often move out of Neukölln before their children reach school age or else find a way to send the children to school in another district. The Neukölln Rütli-Schule gained particular notoriety in 2006 when its teachers wrote a public letter demanding that the school be closed because of out-of-control student violence.
