Vintage
With its six stores clustered in the one street, Reciproque is the first port of call for men and women when it comes to great vintage buys. Each of the multiple shop-fronts is dedicated to its own category, spanning women’s evening wear, women’s casual, menswear, accessories and coats. Le Mouton à Cinq Pattes is another vintage chain with multiple outlets selling a great selection of second-hand designer labels. A great indie find is Quidam de Revel, offering a hand-picked selection from such designers as YSL, Cardin and Hermes, with jewellery from Georg Jensen among others. As you would expect for a boutique in the Marais, which is a magnet for amateur collectors of vintage clothing, prices are a little higher here than elsewhere. Alternatives, also in the Marais, is more of a jumble; men will find some great jackets and suits from designers such as Paul Smith and Kenzo while women can get stuck in to such designers as Prada and Dries Van Noten. Trend store Kiliwatch falls somewhere between second-hand and vintage. Though the super hip boutique just off rue Etienne Marcel sells new trend brands, the largest portion of the store is given over to ‘vintage’ pieces. Clothes are not really designer label but they are chosen for their style impact so it’s great for those who want something between high-end vintage and just general second-hand fodder.
