Bus
The bus network is an integral part of the city’s public transportation system. The BVG operates several types of buses – extended ‘accordion’ and double-decker models – that are all well maintained and usually on time. You must enter from the front doors and show your ticket to the driver. You can also buy tickets from the driver, who can provide change. A single two-hour ticket with transfers is €2.10. A short trip is €1.20. Confusingly, some main bus lines have been branded MetroBus routes. This means they are listed as the M11 or M21, while other bus lines are simply the 100 or 271. For regional and long-distance travel most people rely on Berlin’s excellent train service.
