Disconnecing From Dewa
Once you move out of your Dubai property, you will need to disconnect the water and electricity supply. This procedure is fairly simple and hassle free.
Prerequisites
- You will be vacating the premises in a minimum of two days.
What to bring
- Tenancy contract (together with proof that you are moving out).
- Passport with residence visa (original and copy).
- An authorisation letter stating that you wish to close the account.
- If renting, a copy of your landlord’s passport and visa page.
- DEWA Consumer Account Number
- Date you will leave the property
- Original security deposit receipt; if the security deposit is in a company name, a stamped letter from the company requesting refund.
- Final bill payment receipt
Procedure
- Apply online at dewa.gov.ae
- An SMS will be sent notifying you when the final bill is ready.
- Your deposit will be refunded
OR
- Notify DEWA two days in advance through email or personal visit before vacating the premises.
- Pay your final bill in cash and collect the receipt. (You can also pay it using your deposit).
