Residential Areas

Choosing a place to live in Tokyo can seem like an overwhelming task. There are so many areas to choose from, and depending on your situation many factors can come into play. If you have a limited budget, then Ginza will not be for you. Do you have a family? If so, then you might want to check out Yoyoi-Uehara or Setagaya-ku. If you’re younger or single, it might be important to you to maintain your social life by sticking to areas with lots of entertainment options like Azabu or Shibuya. If your job is in Nihonbashi, then neighbourhoods in Chiyoda-ku might be convenient.

The following suggestions are by no means your only choices. In fact, if you’re looking for a truly Japanese living experience you might want to look outside these areas too. Tokyo is such a huge and vibrant city with hundreds of unique neighbourhoods, so use this as a starting point to help you set forth on your own experience of finding a place to call home in Tokyo.
