The excellent reputation of Charlottenburg schools, from Kita through to Gymnasium, draws many families to the district. Several international schools are located here. The Berlin British School is a private English-language school, while the state-run Charles Dickens Grundschule (030 3032 8680, www.charles-dickens-gs.de) offers tuition-free German-English bilingual education. The Internationaler Kindergarten Berlin (030 892 6644, www.internationaler-kindergarten-berlin.de) is a private international pre-school. Charlottenburg is home to two of Berlin’s major universities, the Technische Universität and the Universität der Künste (www.udk-berlin.de).
