Eating & Drinking
Steglitz’s most distinctive landmark, a 46 metre tower, known to locals as the ‘Bierpinsel’ for its resemblance to a beer stein plunked atop a paintbrush, long held a restaurant, but is now closed for renovations.
Favourite eateries of Steglitzers include the tapas joint La Conzuela (030 8507 2969, www.conzuela.de), the French restaurant La Casserole (030 7970 5506, www.la-casserole.de) and Japanese-casual Akiko Sushi (030 7974 4564). Schloßstrasse is good for food on the go, especially if you like Currywurst; several Imbisse here (Zur Bratpfanne, 030 7978 8360 and Krasselts Imbiss) are considered among the city’s best. Steglitz has some bars, including Finnegan’s Public House (030 792 0709), one of Berlin’s more convincing Irish pubs, but is more oriented toward family-style nightlife, as the two major cinemas around Schloßstrasse attest (Titaniapalast, 0180 5050520, and Adria Filmtheater, 0180 5050711).
