Transport

Steglitz feels more like an urban village than a suburb in the sense that getting around the district itself without a car – whether by foot or cycling – poses no trouble at all. It is, however, advisable to own a car here, as public transport can run infrequently at night. That said, many Steglitz residents praise the short U- and S-Bahn travel times to central Berlin as well as to outlying areas such as Potsdam. Steglitz benefits from being served by the U9 as well as the S1. From Rathaus Steglitz, the journey to Mitte takes about 30 minutes.
