Landline

There are two home phone providers in the UAE, Etisalat and du. Both are government-owned. The majority of homes in Dubai will have an Etisalat landline, but several new developments and du provides services to many Emaar and Nakheel properties, both business and residential (such as Marsa Dubai, Arabian Ranches, Emirates Living, the Greens/Springs/Lakes, and International City).

Villas and apartments in these areas are equipped with multiple sockets for telephone, internet and TV signals. You can subscribe to du’s call packages and internet services if you have an Etisalat landline (and vice versa), but you still have to pay the du (or Etisalat) line rental charge. Etisalat offers two landlines per property; installation of the second landline is free, you just pay the extra rental charges. du offers an unlimited number of landlines and extensions; each additional landline comes with a new subscription, a new phone number and a new handset. Additional extensions are added onto your existing landline subscription. Both Etisalat’s Home Landline packages and du’s Homephone packages include free local calls.
