Because hospitals are required to provide basic healthcare services for their area, all have an emergency room and then specialise in a dozen or so different types of medicine. Your family doctor or specialist will be the best source for determining which hospital to go to for non-emergency visits. The city has begun privatising some of the hospitals but the ownership is irrelevant as your insurance will be picking up the bill. A handful of private clinics cater to a more moneyed clientele, but they’re often in unexpected locations where you wouldn’t go looking for medical help, such as in an upscale shopping mall.
