Eating & Drinking

Like its population, Kreuzberg’s restaurant scene is unpretentious and ethnically diverse. Though not every corner döner stand sells good food, you’ll find more delicious Middle Eastern food here than in any other section of Berlin. Good Thai, Sudanese (Nil), and vegetarian (Café V, Lausitzer Pl. 12, 030 6128 7459) restaurants are also on offer, along with plenty in the way of burgers, Currywurst, and roast chicken. Kreuzberg nightlife tends toward funky, low-key bars. There are several live music venues and larger clubs near Schlesisches Tor, and some gay nightlife clusters along Mehringdamm. The water has an especially pleasant influence on nightlife in summer, with beer gardens and other outdoor drinking venues lining the Landwehrkanal.
