The Gesundbrunnen Centre (030 493 0000, www.gesundbrunnen-center.de), a major shopping centre on the Ringbahn, is the exception to Wedding’s rule of low-price, somewhat scruffy family-run shops. Plenty offer produce, hardware and other nuts and bolts of daily life, but don’t expect trendy boutiques or gourmet coffee. The area boasts a few nice outdoor attractions: Volkspark Humboldthain in the east has an outdoor swimming pool and, in winter, a toboggan run; Volkspark Rehberge in the west has meadows, an open-air stage and sports grounds.
