Century City
Century City’s 176 urbanised acres jut up from between Westwood, Beverlywood, Ranch Park and Beverly Hills like a giant silver thumb. Its towering skyscrapers, the first built in the region after earthquake safety-height restrictions were modified in the early 1960s, are its dominant feature. It almost looks like a big chunk of the future that fell out of the sky and landed on the recent past. One of the most recognisable buildings on the former 20th Century Fox backlot is Fox Plaza, familiar to movie goers as Nakatomi Plaza in the movie Die Hard. One of the best big-screen theatres is here, in the Century City Mall, right next to one of the most upscale foodcourts in the city.
