Petrol Stations
Compared with most other countries, the government-subsidised and regulated petrol in China is relatively cheap. SinoPetrol and Sinopec are the two main stations around Shanghai, and have a general monopoly on energy services in China. Attendants will always fill the vehicle for you, and the stations often have subcontractors who will offer car wash services or simple maintenance checks. All types of petrol are unleaded. Prices vary but expect to pay ¥5.5 per litre. Petrol stations are harder to find closer to the city centre, but are plentiful in the suburbs. If in dire need of a refill, ask a taxi driver or chauffeur to point you in the right direction.
