Shopping & Amenities

There is an abundance of shopping in Chiyoda-ku. In the residential areas you are likely to find local greengrocers, butchers, convenience stores and supermarkets – for major shopping head to the east of Chiyoda, closer to the major stations. The areas around Tokyo, Yûrakuchô, Iidabashi, Ochanomizu and Yotsuya stations all have major shopping opportunities with a mix of shops, cafes and shopping complexes. Iidabashi has a Miuraya international grocery store in the station.

Akihabara is the place to go to fill your electronic needs, and the Kanda/Jimbocho zone is famous for it’s hundreds of new, used and antique bookshops. Jimbocho also has a high concentration of sports shops, and the main street leading from Jimbocho to the west exit of Ochanomizu station is lined with music and instrument shops. The Yûrakuchô/Hibiya area in the southeast is now stocked with new upscale shops, as well as old favourites like Bic Camera and Seibu department store. Head closer to the Hibiya metro station for Hibiya Shante.

Two jewels in the Tokyo station area shopping crown are the Marunouchi Building and Shin-Maranouchi Building, which house upscale shops and gourmet restaurants. For more fine dining, the Iidabashi area running into Kagurazaka in Shinjuku is well known for its excellent French restaurants. And if you’re in the mood for even more fine dining and luxury shopping, Ginza is just a few train stops away.
