Transport
This area is one of the most easily accessible areas due to Tokyo station’s status as the largest transfer hub in the city. As well as being serviced by the JR Chūō and Chūō-Sobu lines and the Yūrakuchō, Hanzomon, Tozai, Namboku, Marunouchi and Shinjuku metro lines, Tokyo station is a gateway station to all Shinkansen routes moving from the Kanto region, and to the Keio line moving towards Chiba and Tokyo Disneyland. Bus services allow access to major stations in the north such as Ueno, and to Shinagawa in the south. The highway bus service runs out of Tokyo station to other cities.
Traffic levels around Tokyo station and the palace are often very high, and it can get really congested around Iidabashi and Yūrakuchō stations. However, in the residential areas things quiet down significantly, but watch out for a profusion of one way streets. If you don’t have parking at your house or building, parking is limited to rented parking spaces or small pay parking lots costing up to ¥2,000 per day.
