Bus

Taking a bus is the most affordable option. Inner city fares are a flat Dhs.2. To ride from the city to one of the suburbs adds an additional five fils per kilometre, which averages at about Dhs.5 for each journey off the island.

The main bus station in Abu Dhabi is on Hazza bin Zayed Road next to Al Wahda Mall and there are clearly marked bus stops with air-conditioned shelters on nearly every major road on the island.
The Abu Dhabi-Dubai Emirates Express is a two-hour bus service between the emirates, costing Dhs.20 per one-way ticket. The bus runs every 30 minutes between 6.30am-9.30pm from the central bus station in Abu Dhabi, and from Dubai’s Al Ghubaibah station from 6.20am-11.40pm. In 2013, electric buses between Abu Dhabi Mall and Marina Mall were also introduced for those wanting a zero CO2 option for inner city travel.
