Recruitment Agencies

Recruitment agencies used to be few and far between due to the stigma associated with changing jobs. This has changed over the past decade or so, and Japan is gradually losing its fixation with jobs for life. If you are bilingual, there is now a wealth of agencies to choose from, with registration possible online. An interview will also usually be required. For the monolingual, try the English speaking recruitment agencies Daijob and Gaijinpot (www.daijob.com and www.gaijinpot.com). Finance and IT professionals are more likely to be headhunted. Big international job agencies such as Robert Walters and Michael Page have offices in the city (see table), while local specialists can be found with a web search.
