Shoes

Shoes can be tricky in Japan, not least because of the small sizes. Prices vary depending on the store, but a good pair of leather shoes or heels can cost upwards of ¥20,000. Department stores tend to do a bigger range than boutiques, with more sizes and varying prices. Isetan in Shinjuku has a big ladies’ shoe section in the main building and an upmarket men’s department with labels like Ermenegildo Zegna. 01CITY is good for affordable footwear. For the runway collections, head to Barneys – just a block from Shinjuku station. It has most big name designers, including Manolo Blahnik and Jimmy Choo. Oshman’s sell flip-flops all year round. Loft and Tokyu Hands have a selection of insoles and other foot and shoe care items.
